A Special Thank You to All Service Members Past and Present on Veterans Day
Today is Veterans Day, the day we set aside time to say thank you to all those who served in the U.S. military past and present. And we at Support Store would like to take a moment and give a special thanks to all those who have made it part of their life’s work to protect our country and our freedom.

I can remember very vividly when I learned who a veteran was. I was 4 years old, and my Dad was traveling to Washington DC to march in the Vietnam Veterans Parade on November 13, 1982 when they unveiled the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. He may have been in DC, but I was home in Illinois with my mom, sporting a brand new bright yellow t-shirt with blue writing that said “My Dad is a Vietnam Veteran and I’m Proud of Him.”
As I grew up, I learned about all the other veterans in my family which furthered my appreciation: my two grandfathers, Carmen and Thomas, who both served during World War II; my great-grandpa, Elwood, served

during World War I where he lost part of his leg; my Uncle Moose who

served in the U.S. Army; my Uncle Bill who served in the U.S. Navy; my husband’s grandfather, Arthur, was in one of the first units of the Army who were the foundation for the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean War; my husband’s Uncle Bob and Aunt Theresa, both of whom served in the U.S. Navy; and through doing some family research, I’ve also found that I’ve had descendants in both the Civil War and American Revolution. Therefore, Veterans Day is a special day of remembrance for me.
Everyone in the Support Store organization also has special appreciation for our very own customer service rep, Mike, who is a veteran and served our country in the U.S. Air Force.
It is also a very special day of thanks and appreciation for all these service members have done. I would like to take this time to thank the active service members I know who work every day to help ensure our rights and liberties:
- Brothers Ryan and Rodney B., both serving in the U.S. Army and who both have done tours in Iraq.
- James T., U.S. Navy
- Mike R., U.S. Marines (who has also done tours in Iraq and is currently deployed)
- Will C., U.S. Navy
- Jim M., U.S. Navy
- Kevin S., U.S. Navy
- Casey Q., U.S. Army
I encourage everyone to take a moment today to thank all our veterans and active military men and women for their service. We could not live the lives we have today in this country without them.
